Bypassing Fate 2024 Acrylic on wall and on suspended canvas "I'm sitting in the shed, looking at the pumpkin lamp burning by the wall and listening to the deafening rustling of leaves. I know I have to go again soon, but I'm still waiting for the last moment before the shadows come. I hum a tune to myself, the play of lights on the wall is talking at the same time. I'm silent again and listen to the leaves, when the pumpkin lamp makes one small twitch in its face, and I know I have to go now." (Excerpt from Mart Alaru's book "Pimeduse raadio/ Radio of Darkness") The painting is influenced by the rush of routine and the emotions hidden behind it. How the daily rush from point to point and tasks keep a person in an endless wheel of distraction. Although the work is about life and the emotions behind it, this work painted on canvas received its first impetus from Mart Alaru's book "Pimeduse raadio/ The Radio of Darkness". Exhibited at the group exhibition "The Power of Dreaming to el Mesa" at Rundgang KhK, Kassel 2024. Many thanks to Mounira Al Solh and Qianmei Ni! |
