Stones
2014
Installation incl. photos, rocks, oil painting, sound, printmaking
Dimensions variable
For nine weeks in a row, from the end of winter to spring, I collected stones in places important to me. First, I cleaned and washed away old environmental residues, observed the stone and delved into it for a week. Then I tried to paint a fragment from the surface of the stone, as best I could. I took a photo of the original nesting place of each collected stone, so that at the end of the project I could return all the stones to their original location.
The work spoke of my need, at that time, to take on other people's problems and try to empathetically understand and help them. At the end of the work, I concluded: I cannot help someone who does not want to, and I am exhausting myself for no reason. All the stones are back in their natural nests.
